On a recent working trip to Glasgow we
visited the Grand Ole Opry and had one of the best nights we can
remember. Why such a good night? It was a combination of
friendly people, good dancers and dancing, an excellent band in
“Maddison County” and a terrific atmosphere.
The Grand Ole Opry
(Glasgow) is a club where you pay a small entrance fee. Bar
prices are very reasonable and food is available from the Chuck
Wagon upstairs. If you like Country Music or simply want a
great safe night out this is definitely the place to go. We
enjoyed it so much we are trying to organise a trip to Glasgow
with our friends from our area to visit on both Friday and
Saturday nights as soon as we can!
While we were at the
“Opry” there was a Fast Draw competition and a quick game of
bingo. Carol, who was the Compere, kept the evening moving
along with great observation and friendly manner. Even we
Sassenachs could clearly understand Carol. The evening always
ends with a very nice Trilogy.
Our personal preference
is for Partner dancing and we were able to dance all evening
thanks to courteous and knowledgeable Line Dancers. Social
Dancers also leaving or moving to give us room when required.
There were groups of young people out for a great night out who
tried to follow some line dances or just danced socially.
Surely this should be the aim of all Country Clubs?
We look forward to
seeing our new friends again as soon as we can!
