Progressing naturally from line dancing into partner and
couples dancing (Ian and Sue taught all 3 styles), we
found ourselves dancing much more partner and couples
and less line. This also coincided with some line
dancing clubs moving away from Country & Western and
seemingly, in our opinion, trying to make each dance
more complicated than the last.
Brian's work then led to a move from
Totton to Bicester, so we thought we would find
a Western Dance club and continue to enjoy our dancing
(easy eh?). Unfortunately we failed to find a
dancing club in the area. There are some excellent
Country and Western Clubs but they usually state "no
line dancing" which we took to exclude partner and
couples dancing as well.
This led to a gap in our dancing of
several years before our friends
persuaded us that Milton Keynes was not too far
to travel for a good dancing class. We began attending
Bill Gallagher’s class (Choreographer of one of my
favourite dances - Feel Free), and we have been dancing
at Bill's class ever since.
As we are enjoying our dancing as much as
ever, and knowing that no classes existed in the
Bicester area, we decided to do something about it. We
are aware there is a line dance class, but no partner
and couple. To this end we went out and obtained some teaching qualifications. We settled on the
BWDA2000 as our Dance Organisation, one of
several that exist in the UK.
So Country & Western Dancing Partner and
Couple has arrived in
the Bicester/Westcott area.
See the contacts page for details on how
to get in touch with us and to book a place at a class.
We will be happy to hear from you.
Best wishes
Julie and Brian
